The Stretton Legacy

Stretton Torquay, since 1862

Stretton is yet another chapter in the considerable contribution that the White Family has made the Torquay region, since 1862.

History reveals that Andrew White must be considered one of the early entrepreneurs of the Geelong and Torquay districts. If by no other measure, a review of the land holdings attributed to Andrew White demonstrates his entrepreneurial ability to acquire land and to create business opportunities, predominantly through livery stables and farm holdings.

The development of Stretton is situated on land forming part of Andrew White’s estate. “Stretton Park” was a series of landholdings, which when combined was in excess of 9000 acres and stretched from Mt Duneed through to Torquay. These holdings were sold at one of the largest public auctions of the time in 1952 as part of the dispersal of Andrew White’s estate.

Stretton Developments is fortunate to have a unique opportunity to build on this history and to create a community to perpetuate this lasting legacy. Such an extensive history brings with it responsibilities in ensuring quality outcomes for the community.
